RantCrush Top 5: January 3, 2017
Good morning everyone, here’s the first RantCrush of 2017! Hope you had a good New Year’s Eve and are prepared to tackle the new year. Welcome to RantCrush Top 5, where we take you through today’s top five controversial stories in the world of law and policy. Who’s ranting and raving right now? Check it out below:
An airline pilot in Canada, who was about to fly a plane to sunny Mexico, had apparently partied a little too hard celebrating New Year’s because he passed out in the cockpit at 7 a.m. Despite the fact that 99 passengers were already seated and crewmembers were preparing for takeoff, pilot Miroslav Gronych passed out in his seat and was escorted off the plane. Police officers in Calgary are now investigating how he could have gotten to the cockpit before anyone noticed something was off. “He was pretty high,” said Sgt. Paul Stacey.
The aircraft was operated by low-cost carrier Sunwing Airlines, which has yet to release a public comment. The pilot is a Slovenian man in Canada on a work visa and he was charged with two alcohol-related criminal offenses. Needless to say, passengers weren’t happy.
