Welcome to RantCrush Top 5, where we take you through today’s top five controversial stories in the world of law and policy. Who’s ranting and raving right now? Check it out below:
Sally Yates, who was the acting Attorney General of the United States when President Donald Trump took office, will testify today before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism. Yates was fired by Trump after she refused to defend the travel ban that his administration pushed in late January. But she also warned White House Counsel Donald McGahn that there were discrepancies in Michael Flynn’s account of his relationship with Russian officials. While Flynn was fired on February 13, there are still questions about who in the Trump White House knew what about his Russian ties. Yates’ testimony will focus on those questions.
Although Yates’ appearance isn’t scheduled until this afternoon, Trump took some time this morning to attack her on Twitter, accusing her of leaking information about Flynn to the press:
Ask Sally Yates, under oath, if she knows how classified information got into the newspapers soon after she explained it to W.H. Counsel.
